Editorial Policy
Last updated: March 2026
Daboville Tapissier is committed to the highest standards of journalism. This policy outlines the principles, practices, and accountability mechanisms that govern our editorial work. Every member of our newsroom is expected to understand and follow these guidelines in their daily reporting and publishing activities.
Editorial Standards
All content published by Daboville Tapissier must meet the following editorial standards before publication:
- Accuracy: Every factual claim must be verified through reliable primary or secondary sources. Statistics, financial data, regulatory details, and direct quotations must be confirmed before inclusion in any article.
- Fairness: Our reporting presents multiple perspectives where relevant. Subjects of critical reporting are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. We do not engage in one-sided advocacy or sensationalism.
- Clarity: Articles must be written in clear, accessible language. Industry jargon is explained when used. Headlines accurately reflect the content of the article and do not mislead readers.
- Completeness: We strive to provide sufficient context for readers to understand the significance of the events and developments we report on. Background information, historical context, and relevant regulatory frameworks are included where necessary.
- Timeliness: We prioritize timely reporting without sacrificing accuracy. When breaking news requires rapid publication, articles are updated as additional information becomes available, with clear timestamps indicating revisions.
Fact-Checking Process
Daboville Tapissier operates a multi-stage fact-checking process that applies to all published content:
- Primary verification: The reporting journalist is responsible for verifying all facts at the point of writing. This includes confirming data from official sources, cross-referencing claims with public records, and verifying quotations with their original speakers where possible.
- Editorial review: Before publication, all articles are reviewed by at least one editor who checks factual claims, verifies source attribution, assesses the balance and completeness of the reporting, and confirms that the article meets our editorial standards.
- Post-publication monitoring: Our editorial team monitors published articles for feedback from readers and sources. If new information emerges that affects the accuracy of a published piece, the article is updated promptly with a visible correction notice.
For data-driven articles — including market analyses, revenue reports, and statistical features — our editorial team verifies figures against primary data sources such as provincial gaming commission reports, publicly filed financial statements, and official government publications. We clearly note when data is estimated, projected, or derived from third-party analysis.
Source Attribution
Daboville Tapissier attributes information to its source whenever possible. Our approach to sourcing is governed by the following principles:
- On-the-record sources are preferred. Named sources with identified institutional affiliations provide readers with the context needed to evaluate the credibility and relevance of the information provided.
- Anonymous sources are used only when the information is of significant public interest and the source faces a credible risk of retaliation for speaking on the record. When anonymous sourcing is used, the article explains why the source requested anonymity and describes their position in enough detail for readers to assess their credibility.
- Data and statistics are attributed to their origin — whether a government report, an industry association survey, a company filing, or an academic study. We include links to publicly available source documents when possible.
- We distinguish clearly between confirmed facts, statements from sources, editorial analysis, and opinion. Readers should never be uncertain about whether a claim represents verified fact or interpretive commentary.
Corrections Policy
We take errors seriously and correct them transparently. Our corrections policy operates as follows:
- Minor corrections (spelling errors, typographical mistakes, minor formatting issues) are corrected without a formal notice, though the article's updated timestamp will reflect the change.
- Factual corrections (incorrect data, misattributed quotes, inaccurate regulatory details, wrong dates or names) are corrected with a visible correction notice appended to the article. The notice specifies what was changed and when.
- Significant corrections (errors that materially affect the meaning or conclusions of an article) receive a prominent correction notice at the top of the article and, when warranted, a separate editor's note explaining the nature and scope of the error.
Readers who identify errors are encouraged to contact our editorial team at [email protected] or through our contact form. All correction requests are reviewed by an editor within 48 hours.
Independence from Advertisers
Daboville Tapissier maintains a strict separation between editorial and commercial operations. Our editorial team operates independently from the advertising and business development functions of the publication. The following safeguards are in place:
- No advertiser, sponsor, or commercial partner has the ability to review, approve, modify, or suppress any editorial content before or after publication.
- Advertising placements are clearly distinguished from editorial content through visual design and labelling. Sponsored content, if ever published, would be explicitly marked as such and would not be produced by the editorial team.
- Editorial coverage decisions — including which stories to pursue, how to frame them, and what conclusions to draw — are made solely by the editorial team based on newsworthiness, public interest, and journalistic merit.
- The commercial success or failure of advertising relationships has no bearing on the topics we cover or the positions we take in our analysis.
Affiliate Content Disclosure
Daboville Tapissier may include affiliate links within certain articles or reference sections. These are links to third-party services — typically licensed gaming operators — that generate a commission if a reader follows the link and creates an account or completes a transaction. Our affiliate disclosure practices include:
- All pages that contain affiliate links include a visible disclosure statement, typically in the footer and in the article body where applicable.
- Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial decisions, article selection, rankings, or the analytical conclusions in our reporting.
- We only link to operators that are licensed and regulated within the relevant Canadian jurisdiction. We do not link to unlicensed or offshore operators.
- Our full affiliate disclosure is available in our Terms of Use.
Conflicts of Interest
All members of the Daboville Tapissier editorial team are required to disclose any relationships, financial interests, or affiliations that could be perceived as a conflict of interest in relation to their reporting. Our conflict-of-interest guidelines include:
- No editorial staff member may hold equity, options, or other financial interests in gaming companies, operators, or suppliers that they cover or could reasonably be expected to cover.
- Journalists must disclose any personal relationships with individuals who are subjects of their reporting. When a conflict exists, the story is reassigned to another member of the editorial team.
- Gifts, hospitality, and travel offers from sources or industry participants are governed by strict limits. Journalists may not accept any gift or benefit that could reasonably be seen as an attempt to influence their coverage.
- All potential conflicts are reported to the managing editor, who determines whether recusal or reassignment is necessary on a case-by-case basis.
Reader Feedback
We value feedback from our readers and consider it an important part of our editorial accountability. Readers are encouraged to share their thoughts on our coverage, suggest story ideas, report errors, or raise concerns about our editorial practices through any of the following channels:
- Email: [email protected]
- Contact form: Contact Us
All reader feedback is reviewed by a member of the editorial team. While we cannot respond to every message individually, we take all feedback seriously and use it to continuously improve the quality and integrity of our journalism. Substantive concerns about accuracy, fairness, or ethics are escalated to senior editors for review.
This editorial policy is reviewed and updated periodically to reflect evolving best practices in journalism and the specific demands of covering the Canadian gaming industry. The most recent version is always available on this page.
